Is there anything new I should wait for when building a new computer in the next few months?

New Nvidia cards are expected in Q2/Q3, we will also have Zen 3/Ryzen 4000 'in this year' (but not sure when). Maybe we get big Navi too this year? Hopefully.

There is always something good around the corner, but I don't expect anything major. More incremental updates if anything

100% depends on your use case.

Please state what you intend to do with the system, what monitor it will drive, resolution and refresh rate.

If gaming we need to know games, graphics quality wanted and FPS target.

Finally we need a budget.

Should?  Hard to know.  In the next few months would be till March or April.  Barring leaks that haven’t happened yet I’d say not in that time frame.  It’s getting real close to earliest release date rumors for ampere and navi21.  Those are just rumors too though.  IF they happen it would affect GPUs but not CPUs.  Intel 10th gen is being teased, but it’s not looking all that great.

Rumors said there was going to be a release of project Scarlett in early January but it turned out to be just a release of the new name and some pics, with a claim of “Holliday 2020” which is exactly the same wording as Sony used.  My suspicion is they’re both ready to go, or fairly close, but they’re each waiting for the other to release.  Probably means near Christmas 2020.  The only reason the Xbox stuff was given any credence at all was it was possible they knew Sony was NOT ready for release and wanted to steal a march.  Didn’t happen.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Wasn’t going for a build guide so to speak but I’m going for a 1500 top budget, I’m not a hardcore gamer or anything, but mostly gamer I screw around on blender time to time, but not like enough to make a editing rendering type. I’m going ground up, using and Ryzen, I used to love Intel but everyone is saying amd amd amd! So I figured for my first home build I’d go amd. I’m putting a bulk of m budget into the cpu gpu. Would like a sweet looking case, (I love Alienware designs, but not even sure if I got a case of line I could even build my own into it) I’m even willing to skimp on storage to the point of putting cheap HDD in to make sure I get old ram cpu and gpu. Just didn’t know if I should wait past April to build on the rumor of a better cpu in May June area that would lower price on older chips. But sounds like I’m gonna have to pay the money lol
