My PC shutdown completely while playing games

Hi, I just built my new PC, everything is brand new except for PSU which is Corsair HX1000i the problem occurs only when playing games like the Witcher 3 or Monster Hunter, after couple of minutes or sometimes an hour the PC shutdown completely, I monitored the temperatures for CPU and GPU and it seems fine CPU in 60~ and GPU reaches 80 Max.
i tried different stress tests such as Aida 64, MSI Kombustor, Heaven Benchmark 4.0. and no crashes, only in games which is driving me crazy.

here is the PC specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 ACE

GPU: Geforce RTX 2080 Ti MSI Gaming X Trio

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory

PSU: Corsair HX1000i (5 years old)

Note: i was using old GPU Titan X Maxwell when i finished my build, after 2 weeks i bought the 2080 Ti and i had no issues in rendering using 3ds Max, but when i started playing games the problem happened. i really wish it's the PSU and not the GPU.

one thing else when the PC shutdown, the memory RGB keeps going and when i try to start the PC it won't work unless i turnoff the PSU power from the back of the case then turn it on again and in that case i'm able to start the PC again. I appreciate your help.

The crash might be a GPU driver issue?

Try using DDU

Most graphics card issues can be solved by uninstalling and reinstalling your GPU drivers. If you haven’t done this yet (or haven’t used Display Driver Uninstaller to remove drivers), I’d recommend using Display Driver Uninstaller, found here: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html (download links at bottom of page) and I’d recommend using the “Clean and Restart” option.

Once this is done, you can download new drivers by clicking on the links below and selecting your hardware.

AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support

if that doesn't work, clear CMOS

Wellcome to the forum!

1. Try do DDU and reinstall the graphics driver

2. make sure BIOS is up to date

3. rund heaven or something AND prime at the same time. Thats to really load the system. If that makes it crash its likely the PSU. But doesn't the HXi come with like 10yrs of warranty?

EDIT:

CMOS is heavily dependent on the MOBO you have. Best practice is to look it up in the manual of your mobo

Prime95 does not need to be installed. You unzip the folder and launch the .exe :)

jup! thats completely normal. Jumping the posts is electrically the same as pressing a button but cheaper to build. If you dont have that "jumper cap" handy, just take something metal like a screwdriver to jump the pins.

dunno isn't it described in the manual? Well I guess it also resets the CMOS. But Idd keep to the manual. And dont fear shoring the pins. You wont get zapped! they operate with like 1V or less and are made for being shorted

Hey, sorry to bother you if you've already fixed this, but I've just had an issue similar to this on a pc and it turned out the harddrive was the cause the moment it attempted to read big games. I ran Crystal disk info and the drive was failing, uncorrectable sectors and the head was also giving an error.

Spoiler

Hey i had this problem, no idea what was causing it when i played games it just randomly restarted, turned out to be the big 24pin power cable for the motherboard not in properly, I advise you unplug it and plug it back in as hard as you can making sure it is properly and securely in place. hope this helps
