(Ram-INeedHelp) 3200mhz 14cl vs 3600mhz 16cl

the goal is to get as much fps possible when gaming at 720 or 1080p 240hz

which one would work better for overclocking/tuning? as in which one would have the highest fps after OC/tuning it

G.Skill 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL14 Trident Z Neo

14-14-14-34 latency

VS

G.Skill 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL16 Trident Z Neo

16-16-16-36 latency

PC specs:

2080 ti aorus xtreme waterforce GPU

aorus xtreme z390 MOBO

i9 9900ks CPU

This seems like a troll post based on username and such :P You dont need 64 GB of Ram for gaming, you dont need 32 GB of ram for gaming, 16 Is plenty. The lower timing one would be better technically, but its not going to be noticeable on the intel platform at all.

i had same dilemma choosing between those two kits around month ago (for AMD rig). Did some research for performance and small tinkering and:

CL14 is better.

But only by the thinnest hair. Seriously the difference is really small. You could be able to clock 3200 to 3600 with no problems.

So it's not possible to tune/oc the 3600mhz 16cl into a 3200mhz 14cl?

i've seen people with 3600mhz 15cl but not sure how they got there

I would go with the 3200MHz with nice and low timings. As for overclocking, I'm no expert on RAM but, the higher the capacity per dimm, the harder it is to overclock them, from my experience. That will also depend on memory type and probably motherboard as well though.

Also, overclocking 4 of them at the same time will most likely make it even harder.

Im not an expert in ram tinkering but tuning cl seems to be harder than clock.
