My computer doesn’t boot up until it’s restarted once? ?

GamerBlake

Hey everyone,

Im having a problem where when I boot my PC up for the first time it will post bios and then freeze at the window screen. But then when I press the restart button it will boot fine. What can be causing this? It happens EVERY single time I boot my PC. It’s not like it happens sometimes and doesn’t happen other times. For some reason it ALWAYS boots fine after I restart it but I never get pass the Windows loading screen on the first boot.

I can provide a video of it happening if it helps with troubleshooting but if anyone has any theories on what’s going on and how to fix it I would really appreciate it.

Thanks! :)

Got a weird thought that might be wrong.

could be a memory issue, and the computer is going to single channel memory to make things work.  Is your memory performance lousy when it does work?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

My memory performance seems to be fine. I’m using 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3200mhz which is pretty high quality ram and I’ve had them for about 3 months and no problems so far with anything. I actually even took the ram out and put it back in to ensure it was a good connection and the problem is still there.

Well that knocks that on the head.

I may be of little help :/

Win10 issues is another big possibility and I know jack about win10.  All I got is old hardware stuff.  You may need someone with more knowledge.

One last idea though it could be stupid:

A “have you turned it off and on” kinda question, but you did the xmp thing and the memory is running at 3200?

I would love to hear a resolution to this, Wife's computer does it. I thought it was something she installed that is screwing things up. I wonder if it is Fast Boot. As i write this i think to myself that it only happens to her on an initial power up but never a reset.

I appreciate the attempt :).

Yeah with XMP its at 3200 but I have it OC’d to 3400. It’s a stable OC since the Bios posts and once it’s restarted it does run at 3400. Plus I didn’t have these issues before when it was at 3400 so I don’t think it’s the OC either.

Well at least you know it wasn’t something she did ?. I know it wasn’t something I downloaded because I only have games & drivers on my system. I put other programs on my MSI Stealth Pro laptop since it’s an older system with a 6700HQ cpu & 970m gpu.

Just for shits and giggles, did you try to boot the system up into the bios screen and then do a save and reset then let windows load to see if it does it? I'm curious if its maybe something initializing late on initial boot.
