Hi y'all currently running a 3700x and a 2070 super and was wondering whether theese temps are high?

CPU
Idle: 55-64c

Playing ARK: Maxes at 82c running around 70-76c

GPU
Idle: 40-38c

Playing ARK: Maxes 78c running around there as well

My ambient is pretty hot, about 25c outside but my room is stuffy so maybe a little hotter in here.

These temps are fine, although I don't know what cooler you have on your GPU and CPU exactly.

For example, if you are using a large air cooler or watercooler on the CPU, you should probably get lower temps.

Pretty good considering ambient temps.

Depends on the coolers but i'd usually call those CPU idle temps on the hot side.

Processor likely doesn't have its cooling solution properly installed, those idle temps are way higher than they should be.

The temperatures are safe for your silicon.

The way to think of it is you subtract the room temperature from the total temperature.  You’re only going up about 30c from idle to under load, which implies your coolers are working.  50c idle seems high, but if room temperature (ambient) is also high it’s not.  It might possibly be you have a case heat issue.  Maybe.  Not likely though unless your room temperature is quite low.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Did you apply fresh paste the last time you installed it? Sometimes this happens if someone pulls off the heatsink and puts it back on without reapplying the the thermal compound.

No, the cooler was a pain to get on and I struggled to latch it on the hooks so I might have pulled it off a little to readjust. Will the temps affect anything though? Will I break anything?

Yeah might be due to my thermal paste application (see below). Case heat probably is not an issue I got a Phanteks p400a and according to reviews its good for thermals.I will get my thermal paste replaced one day by a professional but if the temps are alright right now Ill hold off on it till I get some extra cash in

No. I think.  The CPU has a control feature called thermal throttling that won’t allow it to go over a certain temperature which I think for that chip is 90c. You’re not even getting close to that.  There are laptops that are actually designed to thermal throttle.  Most modern mac laptops do it.  I personally hate the practice but I’m a grumpy old fart.  I don’t like to see temps above 75c. You’re brushing that one, but you’re using the stock cooler.  I call it grumpy old fart approved.

I wouldn’t even bother.  It’s easy.  Watch some YouTube videos of it.

If you think the temps are too high for your taste put an aftermarket cooler on when you do it.

Fine.  I’m just saying if you have to have it done get some use out of the project.

Your CPU and GPU max temps are 95 and 98 degrees C respectively, so the temperatures you are seeing is totally safe.

Also kind of expected with the ambient temps and the cooler on the CPU (still not sure what cooler you have in the 2070S, but mine hits 70 C max with 18 C ambient on an XC Gaming cooler).
