Rtx 2070 S Power pins

My PSU has 4 6+2 pin PCIe cables and my gpu requires both 8 pin and 6 pin. Can I just use the 6 pin part of the 6+2 cable for the 6 pin and use the 6+2 pin for the 8 pin?

Yes you can. Just leave +2 pins hanging on the side.

Yes.

When a GPU mentions it needs '8 pin', it actually needs a 6+2 pin. And as the name implies, the 2 pin of a 6+2 pin can not be used, while the 6 pin is.

So if your GPU has 6+2 pin and a 6 pin, the intended way to work with this is to use a two 6+2 pin cables from your PSU and just omitting a 2 pin from one of them. Just like you described.
