3000mhz to 3200mhz ram overclock??

Hey boys,

I need some info please, I am not an expert on this. I have "G.Skill AEGIS F4-3000C16D-16GISB Memory 16GB DDR4 ( 2x8GB )"

It is running at dual channel xmp 3000 mhz at the moment, but my motherboard has more options, for xmp ranging as high as 3600 mhz. So my question, can I just set the xmp profile to 3200 mhz (not expecting it to be able to do more) Or wont this work ? I am sry, I am rlly clueless...

Thanks to everyone who took the time to dropp a comment, this forum helped me a lot alrdy. Luv ya ll ❤️

Load you XMP profile so it will change to the XMP timings voltage ect. Then manually select 3200Mhz.

Most kits can do at least 200Mhz without any other changes. I can get 3333Mhz with just a DRAM voltage change from 1.35v to 1.375v. I have had my kit up to 3800Mhz stable with increasing the timings but start to sacrifice performance at that point with latency. I can do 3600Mhz with voltage and slight timing changes. Which is a good balance for me of latency and speed. Your mileage my vary.

Okay, I ll definitely try to get it at 3200 mhz in that case :)  I have ryzen 5 2600 cpu and a b450m pro 4 mobo.

I will try it in a couple of hrs (rn I basicly should be doing sth else lol), and I ll let you know! 3400 mhz would be cool af dude :D but I also don not want to add to much latency.

It will depend on the die on the DIMMs and how well they OC, if your wanting to take it that far we can run some benchmarks and do some comparison.

Hells yeah, every bit of performance matters to me! If you could help with that, that would be awesome! Also I just realized that I might actually have F4-2800C17D-16GIS ram in my system (I ll check after opening it) I built it quite a while ago and forgot alrdy... But that would mean its alrdy running 200mhz more than it was advertised. Might it still work ? But even if that wont work I ll be building a system for a friend soon with the F4 3000 memory from above, so even if it doesnt work for my system all the information will come in handy at the point I built it for him.

i have the atx version of your board. Meaning it is just bigger. I think we have the same BIOS. All you simply have to do is go to BOIS -------> Overclock ----------> XPM: select XPM PROFILE 1 ----------> Then to go to ram frequency and choose 3200

Yes, I know, what I didnt know was if my ram could handle it and therefore I acted careful. But I ll do exactly what you guys said later this evening :)

Also my Bios version is quite old. Its still 1.60 And I think 3. sth shall be available by now. But I do not want to risk it to upgrade since my system is running fine, no bluescreens crashes, freezes, just nothing... Is this dumb ? I mean, never change a running system (and I have bad experiences with updates for drivers...)

With Bios its best to stay up to date.

usually the only time issues arise is when users perform an improper flash. Let me know your bios version when you get the chance. I also update my bios and have always advised everyone to do so as long as they follow the mfg procedure on how to do it. In most cases the benefits out weight the negative of being out of date.

Okay I ll update it. One question tho: It says on the manufacturers website that I cant go straight to 3. I need to go to 2 first. My Question now is: Can I do the Internet flash and just call it a day ? This would prolly be the easiest way, but I dont know if the internet flash is "smart enough" to update to 2 first. Also: what software will we be using to benchmark our ram :) ?

Edit: actually some more questions. Whats the amd all in one driver ? It says I have to update this first.

(Current Version is: 1.60)

I would do a manual flash of 2.0 then a manual flash of 3.5 as the website states its not recommended to go to 3.5 with pinniacle ridge.

I always manually download and manually flash my BIOS that way I know it gets done right.

As for the Amd all in one driver download and install it before flashing. This contains chipset drivers it says with VGA that is because if you have a APU and don't update the driver before the flash you may not get video signal out of the motherboard after a BIOS flash. Since your not using a APU it will only install chipset drivers. After successful install and reboot then you can proceed to flash the BIOS.

So I guess I go to this site https://www.amd.com/de/support and pick my cpu and install whatever it gives me right? This shall be the "all in one driver" if I am not mistaken.

And after I use a USB stick to flash bios manually to 2.0 and after that to 3.5

(Sry That I am asking a lot but I have actually never done this before.)

Download, then unzip it, and run setup.exe in that folder and follow the prompts once finished, i recommend a restart to verify system is in working order, then you can boot into bios to do the flash.

Sorry for the long delay had some family stuff to deal with.

No you don't have to move it anywhere just have to run the setup.exe contained within. After its done, you can delete the zip and the extracted files if you want.

Personally I keep a zip of all my drivers so I have them on hand.

Sorry for the long delay had some family stuff to deal with.

No you don't have to move it anywhere just have to run the setup.exe contained within. After its done, you can delete the zip and the extracted files if you want.

Personally I keep a zip of all my drivers so I have them on hand.

Good Morning Sir,

It is all done, my Bios is at 3.50 as you recommended. Everything seems to be working just fine still :) I ll play some games and see how that goes. Thank you again for helping out with that. I guess we could start overclocking my RAM soon :D
