2 1060s in one pc how to?

Yes I know everything about sli, but what I dont know is how do i simply use my other 1060 for recording using obs while the other for gaming. And if even possible, use both to render videos faster?

Additional: would differentsliauto be worthit today? (you dont need to answer this if u dont know, tnx)

Sli makes thign worse in some games. Some games it wont even use the second cards, if you luvky some games you get 20% performance boost. Sli is dead. Sell your 1060 and buy used 1070ti or 1080. or new rx 5700

I already know everything about sli, no need to put it right on my face for the nth time, im flat broke and stuck with 4 1060s. Im making its time with me worth while, while looking for someone to buy it.

Selling 1060's with good price will make people buy them. If you have 4 1060's you could make 500 dollars easily, you could get 600-700 dollars from them, then you could buy rtx 2070 super or 5700 XT.

 

Like 100-150 dollar each

Yea, I already dropped my prices to just barely able to buy an rtx 2070 super if I sell 3, the 4th one is what i currently use

Nice, you should list the 1060 too, but still use it until when somebody is interested. You could afford better model rtx 2070S or bad model of rtx 2080S with that one

no not sli or nvlink, I know the 1060 cant do that. You can put any 2 gpus in a mobo and separate loads with both, it just CANT be used for gaming, meaning not as one gpu

There is a way that one of your 1060 will game and other record/render i just do not know how to do it

Anyway, does the other card pop up in obs to select it and the encoder?

I haven’t used obs with a multi card system in awhile. I think it did. 

 

So just select it, then open task manage and see which card is being used to encode. Then hopefully the other one will be primary for the game.

Nope, after the 600 series they started to get a separate chip for encoding which is separate from the part that renders. OBS now just uses the same GPU that is rendering to also do the encoding without any performance loss. This is alsp why 2 GPU builds are dying out. (That and GPUs are expensive af)

Yea I’m well aware how the cards are made. I’ve ran obs and can select which ever card I want. But I don’t play on the rig. So I wouldn’t know the software limitations. But if you know for a fact that it can’t work then the op has their answer.

An external streaming PC is something many people do.

I already tried it a while back, tho the 2nd gpu isnt getting any load even tho i set obs to use the 2nd 1060, same for rendering. I think im missing something

ive got an extra mobo and a 6th gen pentium, tho no psu, storage, or ram. Id rather just buy a 1660ti or 2060 if im just gonna build the other pc

If you set OBS to use GPU2, then it will fail, because while there is a 2nd GPU, it's not number 2. It counts from 0, so you'd have to use GPU1 for the 2nd GPU.

 

Also, I tested this with 2x970s, and had SLI set-up. Not sure if that is why it worked, or how that effects how it worked for me which might not work for you.

Oh I agree it's not cost effective to build. I often have a few old office PCs lying around that I either save from the dumpster from work or see online for free. 

If you found something remotely usable you could slap your second 1060 in and you're off to the races.
