Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Hey guys,

 

I don't know if any one of you even knows if Bosnia and Herzegovina exists but right now the situation is kind of bad. I will inclue some articles in English for you guys to understand. Basically what is happening is that the people aren't happy with the situation of our government. There are some cases where people didn't get paid for 54 months. Pepole want to change everything from the ground up. What do you think?

Interesting read. I've never understood why people burn down their infrastructure when they're mad though.

I get it, you don't like what's going on. Protest is all fine and dandy, I think more people should protest. Look how well it works in France.

Why destroy police cars and government buildings, that you paid for, and will have to pay again to have them rebuilt?

I also have to give the police credit. Over a hundred officers seriously injured, and only 30 protesters lightly injured?
In most other places, this would have resulted in a heavy, heavy handed police response, as well as a probable military intervention to restore order.

I think its pretty crazy to cost your government more money during an economic crisis, but I suppose people are going through hardship either way, so they are desperate.

 

I can relate quite a bit, my country pretty much went through similar circumstances, this is just a natural part of recovering from war I think.

Kind of. (But not for a while)  In my city they are doing some minor protests, but my mum is in Sarajevo (the main point of destruction) with my 9 month old brother. They can't get out of the town. In Zenica they are destroying everything. My cousin's car is now Rolling in the Deep.

That's awful, hope they are alright... That's the other thing these protesters don't take into consideration, its pretty shocking.

Oh they brought change. They destroyed at least 100 police cars from what I can see, the destroyed a part of our national archive, houses, buildings, ... A couple of the politians decided to quit. In the end they will complain about that they will have to pay for the expenses.

I remember having a friend from Bosnia-Herzegovina in elementary school when his family fled the country during the Bosnian War. To this day, this was the longest mission for our German troops (17 years). Sad to see that only 18 months after we left, things are falling apart again. I hope that the protesters will realize that a violent process never leads to the desired change.
