New Star Wars

If any of you have played the new star wars, can you tell me how it is? I heard it had a sort of Dark Souls type style, but I just wanted to learn a little more before purchasing

You should check out multiple reviews and some gameplay videos - there are some up that avoid major story and spoilers.

It looks good - I have no idea how long the game is - but there's certain to be some replayability. But it is a single player game, so the amount of replayability will be limited. If you're into stories and single player games, check out the videos and then if you like what you see, buy it.

I had a look - and it's definitely my kind of game - and I do like Obsidian (KOTOR2 anyone?) - but the price is putting me off a bit. $80 CAD - and that's for the non-Deluxe Edition (though as far as I can tell, the Deluxe Edition only comes with a few extra skins, a digital art book, and some behind the scenes videos).

I'll hold off for a bit - but on the other hand, I do want to reward them for finally making a good single player Star Wars game (I should be fair - the single player campaign for BF2 was good - just on the short side).

It's a single player game with a ~14 hour average playtime according to How Long to Beat. From what I saw, it looks very cinematic and story-focused, so I doubt it's going to have much replayability.

The story is ok, but the worlds are beautiful. This is probably one of those games I'll replay in a few years or so, sort of like Shadow of the Colossus.

It's not on Game Pass - I have the ultimate subscription.

It's Available for discount (about 10%) if you have EA Access.

It's a story driven game even if it has a lot of freedom, you aren't going to be playing it forever but it certainly isn't a game for just one weekend.

I'm just a little salty that there is no real customization that affect playstyle/stats to equipment especially the light saber.

Overall the game is great, the way it end kinda open up for more story content maybe in DLC or even episode 2.

Perhaps they will introduce stat changes for upgrades (eg KOTOR style with hilt and crystals, etc, having different effects) in a DLC.

Or a sequel, if the game does well financially.

I hope they continue the story via DLC though for sure. I haven't bought it yet (maybe Christmas time) but it's very tempting.

We should expect the customization to be relatively limited. The story in this one is supposed to be part of the cannon of the revised universe so he can't be too unique for each player.

I'd expect it would be more effective for the devs to make him into a Swiss Army Knife who can eventually do a lot of everything and knows a ridiculous number of styles and techniques, which he switches around as the engagement or mood demands.

He already uses his lightsaber in multiple modes, and there are situations where you may want to use one or the other. And while I am mostly combat focused, force pushing the Purge Trooper off the ledge while he's gloating is both hilarious and satisfying.

He still felt like a more experienced Padawan and not a Master. Which was ok for me and fitted the Story. Next Game i expect more.

Modeling the main character after the actor who voiced them completely takes me out of the game. I'm just waiting for the rest of the Gallagher family to show up.

Huh - never had that problem. And it's not like this is the first game to do this.

Do you have that problem when you see well known actors star in a new TV Series or Movie?
