it's worth it to upgrade to 144Hz. Especially if you have a 600 dollar graphics card

That's a huge change in both resolution and refresh rate.  You will be very happy.  I moved to 1440p ultrawide 120 Hz and haven't looked back.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

Awesome, that's definitely good to hear. Is 60hz and 100hz really a major difference?

I used a GTX 1080 with a 3440 X 1440 ultra wide for 2 years and it did replace my 1080p 27" monitor.

Even though I have a 4k gaming rig with a 2080 ti I play all modern games at 21:9.

One of the downsides to ultra wide is that some older games(ports) don't like it. I use mods for some of them but I will always keep a 16:9 monitor or TV around to play some of them.

Also you have lots of power for 1080p but it is weak for 3440 X 1440. It will mean more time spent playing with settings on harder to run games but it will be worth it.

I watch Hardware Unbox's Optimization guids as well.

With some games you will be at 60fps because staying over 100fps even with a 2080 ti is hard to do on them. Those are games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Fortunately these types of games play fine at lower frame rate so it is no big deal.

It's really going to depend on the person, but for me it's noticeable.  I went from 1080p 60 Hz to 1440p 144 Hz to 1440p ultrawide 120 Hz.  I personally don't notice all that much difference between 100/120 and 144 Hz, but any of those are a noticeable improvement for me over 60 Hz.

I run 3440x1440 with a GTX 1080 and I'm not able to hit 100+ fps in all games.  When the FPS dips down to the 60-70 range I can tell.  It's still smooth with Gsynce, but the difference is there.

Regardless, I'm still very happy and will likely upgrade my graphics card sometime next year.

Yeah I don't really mind not maxing the graphics. I can be satisfied on medium-high settings as a balance with performance and visuals. I'm not a picky guy when it comes to looks. My girlfriend is a good example of that. Not ugly nor beautiful.

What's the model of the 3440x1440p monitor that you are using?
