Where do people get nice gpu cables from

will01gt

So I have the cables that come with the psu and was wondering where everyone gets these nice cables from. you know the ones that are custom length and don't have like 4 connectors on the cable. like these on the 2080 and the other picture which I similar to mine but mines black. Juat wondering because I want my setup to look nice and I cant find an answer anywhere apart from cable mod which are like £40 for one

thanks

Do you need a custom length? @CableMod sells kits for most PSUs at around $80-100 USD IIRC, a bit more for the PRO ones (which have built in cable combs so they're a bit neater).

For one cable? Are UK prices wack as shit or something? The PRO kits are $100 USD or so on Amazon, normal kits are $70 or so. Full cable kit, not one single cable. 24 pin, two CPU 8 pins, I forget how many GPU 8 pins, I think a 6 pin or two, a few SATA cables, etc.

EDIT: Yeah, they're the same price on UK Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/CableMod-PRO-ModMesh-RMi-Cable/dp/B07JMB8JTB/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=cablemod&qid=1573510036&sr=8-3

100 monies for a full kit:

24 pin, two CPU, two GPU, one 6 pin, what looks like a molex and two SATA cables. The extensions are half the price, and normal cable kits in-between. This is specifically the RMi/RMx one but the others are the same price.

Sucks that these are only for the more expensive PSU manufacturers, not for stuff like the Rosewill Capstone. (which is actually higher quality than most of the ones these cables are designed for)

I've always read that you shouldn't use other cables than the ones from your PSU especially power cables and such...

What makes these cablemod cables different?

Is there a warranty for any damage caused by these cables or something?

Because the wiring schematics are specific. Some cheap stuff back when it started didn’t care about that and just sold stuff. So yea if they aren’t matching, it’s prolly best not to use them.

Hmm, I see so I suppose those cablemod cables are largely considered safe?

Which is why they only make them for specific models. Can’t just put them in anything and expect the same results.

No shit, they aren’t charging 100 a cable. That was a rhetorical question.

Ek manages because other sucked or got a late start.

Don't worry OP, there are other brands or you can DIY by getting your own sleeves and connectors which will be way cheaper.

@Caroline we haven't increased our prices at all actually, not sure where you got that information but it is definitely incorrect. There are other options of course, some cheaper, some more expensive, that's to be expected and you'll see that in all markets. You have to factor in support from all brands too though, and I would say we're very helpful in that category.

Ah ok.  So I need a certain power supply to use these cables?  currently my GPU cable is black so I don't really need one,  on the other hand my case is rather odd (Inwin 301,  but I love it for its oddness!) and I could actually use a longer or more flexible cable, especially if I get one of those 6+8 pin GPUs :o
