Also to add,  5700XT is not a good option even if you wanna try the sharpening feature on RX 5700XT, just not worth the money or time.

The only reasonable upgrade is the 2080Ti, since the 2080 and Super is just 1080ti performance with much better realtime raytracing support, but even realtime raytracing at this point is still in beta phase, with developers finding out what to do with the new tech and it still hits frame rates like a rock against a straw hut.

I have a 1080ti asus strix and was wondering if it was worth changing to the 5700xt its roughly 50$ cheaper then what i bought my 1080ti for 800 second hand AUD.

Current build is MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Motherboard, Ryzen 2600, 16 gig Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz, Corsair RM750x

My monitor is a Acer Predator XB271HU QHD 144Hz G-Sync IPS 27in Monitor

I pretty much just game on it at 2k res so was wondering if I should swap or not.

Pros and cons of each card are more then appreciated :)

Hang on, are you getting your $800 back in this scenario? Or are you selling the 1080ti and downgrading to an RX 5700/XT?

Those cards are maybe within 15-5% of a 1080ti depending.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Only really makes sense to me if you sell it with the G-sync display, then swap to like a 1080p 240hz or 4k 60hz display

non XT cards are pretty cheap, and you can just overclock it, or flash an XT bios onto it. Would want a 2nd GPU/PCI-e slot for recovery though.

you likely won't be able to make your money back. Also the 1080 ti just outright performs better so...

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Keep the GTX1080Ti, it's nVidia's previous gen best performing card and still holds its own in modern games, no reason to go 5700XT since you also have a Gsync monitor. This is coming from a certified AMD fanboy.....what brought on this mindset to swap the GTX1080Ti for the 5700XT anyway?

yep the only 500 ish card that can beat the 1080ti is the 2070 super. and even then only sometimes with an oc. Not worth the upgrade wait till ampere or a better high end card of AMD.

Really no reason to swap out the 1080 Ti for a 5700 XT. FPS-wise, they're neck in neck, but with the 1080 Ti you're getting 3GB of extra VRAM, so I'd say changing it for a 5700 XT would be a downgrade.

They are fairly similar in performance, especially if you do a little bit of overclocking/undervolting on the 5700XT.

The 5700 XT is on-par with the 2070 Super, so don't claim it's the only one that'll beat it at below $500USD.

More of a sidegrade, since no game right now, or in the foreseeable future will even fill an 8GB VRAM, much less 11GB.

Well, you might be right, but we can't know for certain. Battlefield 1 (2016) used to take up about 4GB of VRAM at 4K Ultra, while BF5 (2018) uses close to 6-7GB, for example. I'm not saying 11GB is required, I'm just saying that having it won't hurt, neither now nor in the near future.

the 5700xt is not on par with the 2070 super, stop lying to people. the 5700xt is roughly 7% slower. at 1440p. and 9-10 at 4k.

again no its not. its even beaten more by the 2070 super when you oc both, the 5700xt does not beat the 1080ti in the majority of the games. only a handful where amd gets the lead over even a 2080 super. so stop lying.
