What is PCIE Lanes?

what is PCIE lanes supported by intel chipset? amd does it affect gaming performance? my b360 supports only 12 lanes, i have 9700 paired with 5700xt!

yes it does affect gaming since graphics cards using the direct lanes...it's in the specification page of each of the products...for i5 9700 it's support 16 pcie 3.0 lanes directly from the cpu usually for the 1st pcie slot for graphics card..if you use dual graphics card and the motherboard supports it..it usually split into 8 lane each x16 slot...aghh,,,just read this i found googling..=x

The 9700 provides 16 PCIe lanes itself. The chipset provides an x amount of them. Having more or less on the chipset won't specifically hinder gaming performance.
