Infinity Fabric/Memory Overclocking on X570

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some advice. I'm stress testing a new build, and I've been trying to get infinity fabric stable at 1900mhz. I ran 3 hours of memtest 64 without any errors and then switched over to Prime95 for a blend test and it failed after 30 minutes. I've since stepped down the Fclk to 1867mhz and have been running the Prime95 blend test for almost 3 hours without any problems. I'll let it run for about 4 more hours just to make sure it's solid at 1867mhz with the RAM at 3733mhz.

 

I was thinking though, are there any voltages I should tweak to see if I can get just a little more juice for that 1900mhz fclk? I know you want to run RAM 1:1 with it, which is what I was doing. My RAM is rated for 3866mhz 18-19-19-39, so I kept the timings the same and just downclocked the frequency to 3800mhz. Those are the settings that failed in Prime95 after a half hour though. 

 

Keep in mind, I have disabled RAM Power Down Mode in the bios as well and manually set the DRAM voltage to 1.35V to match the specs of my kit. 

 

Is there anything else I could do to try to get the fclk stable at 1900mhz?

 

System specs:

MOBO: Gigabyte X570 I AORUS PRO Wifi (the mini ITX board) 

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X

RAM: G.Skill F4-3866C18D-16GTZR (8GBx2 rated for 3866mhz 18-19-19-39)

CPU Cooler: EVGA CLC 240 w/ Noctua NF-A12x25 fans

GPU: using an old gtx 580 for testing, but will be transferring my GTX 1070 TI from my old rig to the system once I'm done stress testing. 

SSD: Corsair Force MP510 2TB NVME

PSU: Corsair SF600 Platinum

Case: Running on MOBO box for now but will be transferring to NCase M1 once stability tests are complete

Try playing around with SOC voltage, from 1.05v to 1.15v, see what gives the best stability.

 

or else just compensate (if not surpass) with custom timings.

Yeah, I was thinking about bumping up the SOC voltage. I wasn't sure what the limits were though. I'm probably not going to increase the timings over stock though. 18-19-19-39 is already too high imo. If I can't get 3800mhz on the ram to work with 1900mhz fclk, then I'll just step it down to 3733/1867 and lower the timings as much as I can.

imo 1.2v max, I know it's definitely not supposed to go past 1.25v no matter what. At least on first and second gen, 1.2v is already too high for the memory controller, not that it will die earlier but its performance potential is reduced.

Oh, I'm definitely going to be lowering the timings. Maybe that wasn't clear in my last post. I just want to isolate the infinity fabric right now so that when my timings do fail, I will be confident that it's the timings and not the infinity fabric failing. Once the infinity fabric is stable, I'll start lowering the timings.

Well, I tried 3800mhz on RAM and 1900mhz on fclk again with higher SOC and VDDG voltages, and Prime95 Blend test still causes the computer to hard reset after about 30 minutes, so I guess 3800/1900 just isn't in the cards. 3733/1867 is definitely stable though. It ran Prime95 Blend perfectly for 7 hours when I finally stopped it. Now I just have to focus on getting those timings down.

Ok, so I've been working on the timings today, and I'm testing 16-15-15-35 right now. I've found that, for some reason, setting the cas latency to 15 doesn't actually do anything. If I set it to 15, it will still show up in Ryzen Master as 16. If I set it to 14, the system doesn't boot even with the most aggressive voltages and settings. Is there a way to get the system to recognize a cas latency of 15, or is this just a weird Ryzen quirk with no work around? Am I stuck at 16?
