THE "I want a real camera for less than $300" thread

Funny, every website I see it on has it at least $395 USD.

Not to be 'that guy' but that is under $400, just sayin'.

I think most people will get a good feel for photography with used stuff, even though on older digital equipment you will obviously be limited to how much you can enlarge a photo before it's going to degrade visually. 35mm equivalent, 30+ megapixel DSLRs are not in the sub-$300 range yet, you're correct about that, but many people are not running portrait studios, they're just enthusiasts. Everything from my Canon Rebel XS/1000D DSLR, and my Minolta SRT-100 to my Bronica ETRSi medium format film setups, I bought used for 25% or less of what new retail was. A little work on a potential buyers end and they can even find screaming deals on DSLRs if they try hard enough, and most of the equipment will have a lot of life left in it. It'd be great if everyone could go buy a Nikon D850, Canon 5DS, or etc., but that's more camera than most people need, and unrealistic as well. You don't need a $7000 with lens setup to start learning, and have more control than a phone camera.
