best Matx/Mitx airflow case w/ 9900k

MusicMayne

Ahoy lads and laddies

I'm looking for the smallest form factor case that will house a 9900k, noctua d15, atx power supply, and full size graphics.

While the case is small, the airflow remains superb.

Reason for small case?  Easy to move, go places!

Also please recommend a Z390 mobo, I usually role ASUS.... After bad reviews regarding VRMs I'll choose differently.

Thanks

Noctua nh-d15, an atx psu, and a full size GPU? Like a 3 fan 2080 or 2080ti? That rules out itx and most small form factor micro cases just with what you want. You can probably squeeze into a compact mid tower that's Matx.

The Gigabyte Aorus line of Z390 boards are pretty great however the only small factor board really available in that line right now is the Aorus Pro WIFI  ITX.

Main Desktop: CPU - i9-14900k | Mobo - Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 | GPU - ASUS TUF Gaming OC RTX 4090 RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB 3600mhz | AIO - H150i Pro XT | PSU - Corsair RM1000X | Case - Phanteks P500A Digital - White | Storage - Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVME SSD 512GB / Sabrent Rocket 1TB Nvme / Samsung 860 Evo Pro 500GB / Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2tb Nvme / Samsung 870 QVO 4TB  |

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 8th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 2666mhz | Storage - 256GB WD Black M.2 NVME SSD |

Phone: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 - Phantom Black 512GB |

Gotta be Noctua D15S though, the D15 is just that 5mm too tall for the Nano S case. (Dark Rock Pro4 is 3mm too tall)

The Nano S will take upto 315mm GPU length, but I think the triple fan Aorus Extreme at 290mm is plenty of graphics horsepower to go about. And the Z390 Asrock Phantom ITX is probably the best motherboard for an ITX 9900K build

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

The best mITX case with good airflow which can take NH-D15 inside it is FD NANO S.

The best Z390 ITX motherboard is ASrock Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/AC, which has the best VRM and most stable power delivery to run i9 9900K.

SILVER GLINT

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X || Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WiFi || Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 MHz || GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT || Storage: Intel 660P Series || PSU: Corsair SF600 Platinum || Case: Phanteks Evolv Shift TG Modded || Cooling: EKWB ZMT Tubing, Velocity Strike RGB, Vector RX 5700 +XT Special Edition, EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 120 DDC, and EK Fittings || Fans: Noctua NF-F12 (2x), NF-A14, NF-A12x15

Without modding, it's a pretty crap case for airflow.

The heatsinks are the same height. The NH-D15 is just listed at 165mm to accommodate for 32mm of clearance below the fan for ram. With itx, the ram can sit behind the ram and the NH-D15 becomes effectively 160mm tall as well.

Will the NANO S also fit a regular atx power supply as well while 2080ti and D15 is both in case? Or will it only take a SFX Power suppy?

@Vejnemojnen I'll check that datasheet out, thx.

It fits fine. Smaller sfx psus have the benefit of giving a bit more room for the graphics card to breathe but it's far from necessary.
