What 144hz cable do I need???

So I have an HP 25x 144hz monitor, and an RTX 2060 rig. I have the stock HDMI 1.2 cable plugged in, but it only does 60hz. I now realize the fastest failsafe cable would be a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. My problem is that I can find NO information whatsoever on the DP port version on the RTX 2060, or for my monitor. Do I need to downgrade to DP 1.2, or use HDMI 2.0??

 

Any links or info would be greatly appreciated!

Also sorry if there is any confusion, I didn't know whether to put this in the Monitor or GPU section.

The RTX 2060 has Displayport 1.4, which does 144Hz at a resolution of up to 4K (so 1440p and 1080p 144Hz too). 

It has HDMI 2.0b too, which can do 144Hz at up to 1440p.

(I just checked the Asus website for this info)

 

The monitor according to HP's website has this:

DP 1.2 can do 144Hz at up to 1440p, but of course supports the 1080p144Hz of this monitor too.

 

So you can use either DP or HDMI, just be sure to get a decent cable (or just use the cable that comes with the monitor).

Sure, HDMI 1.0 and 1.2 only support 60Hz, but HDMI 1.4 onwards do support 144Hz. 2.0 even supports it at 1440p.

Would be weird for a monitor to mention a specification (namely, HDMI 2.0) and then not adhere to the standards in place for it.

never knew that i always thought you had to use a Display port cable for 144hz i must have been reading older info??? thanks for correcting me :-)

Ah alright. Sorry if I sounded rude in my previous post..

Just for clarity, HDMI on the newer versions (although I can hardly call 1.4 new anymore :P ) supports 144Hz and DVI Dual Link also supports it at certain resolutions (although most modern videocards don't have that connector anymore).

 

But Displayport is always the safest bet!
