Repurposing an old PC into a NAS :)

Hey guys, I don't often post a lot on here but when I do it's in the search for advice and knowledge :)

I'm planning to repurpose my old pc into a NAS as I have recently bought a new pc and don't want my old pc to simply go into the bin if I can avoid it.

OLD PC SPECS -

AMD Phenom II X4 965 (3.4GHz 4c/4t) CPU

8 Gb DDR3 1333MHz

Coolermaster B700 PSU

I am planning to put at least 4 drives in it, each with at least 2TB storage but more than likely gonna start off with 2 drives in the beginning.

I am also planning on using FREE NAS software to get it all going and hoping for the best.

Would this system be powerful enough to serve 2 pc's at the same time? Or would I just be better off scrapping this whole idea since the hardware is complete trash? :(

Thank you everybody!

| CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM - Patriot Viper 32GB DDR4 CL 16 3200MHz RGB RAM | GPU - AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB | Motherboard - MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk |

| PSU - Gigabyte Aorus AP850GM | Case - NZXT H510 Flow | YouTube - SgtKenzo |

normall nas'es run on arm processors mostly, so you should be fine, just install freenas on it

The only downside to this PC is power comsumption. It's more than plenty for this use case otherwise. You could even swap out the CPU for a more energy efficient one, as storage is not a big performance hog at all.
