9700k & 2080 Ti Build

JB780

Alright, here it is, my first PC build in 6 years. I wanted to keep the budget around $2000 USD. I'm going with a 9700k because it offers better gaming performance than the 3700x and I don't want to spend another $150 on a 9900k. Overclocking the 9700k should give me similar performance to the 9900k from what I have seen anyway.

This is a machine that I will be using exclusively for gaming with a ASUS ROG Swift 1440 monitor.

The prices listed are in USD, I'm in Canada, and not necessarily what I am paying but everything (other than the case) is currently on sale. What do you think?

Looks good.

I would go with an AORUS Ultra and a 850 w power supply.

The AORUS Ultra because I have one in the house and it is so far bullet proof.

The 850 watt PSU because my 2080 ti uses 385 watts on its own and that makes me paranoid.

I'm no expert, but it might be better to spend a similar price as the HDD for an SSD instead. I upgraded from HDDs to an SSD and the performance increase was amazing. Also, as Jones said, a slightly more powerful PSU would be better. I would personally go for 32 gigs of RAM but from what I've heard 16 is plenty.

And remember, anyone, if I made a mistake please correct it. I'm trying to help, but I'm also trying to learn

Looks good to me. However the price difference between USD and the Canadian Dollar when ordering PC parts is very different. Putting your build list together in USD is going to cause some issues as it is much cheaper for the components then what you will be paying when you actually by them from Canadian retailers at their prices. For example here's a list from PCPP with the exact parts you did but in Canadian currency instead of USD. If $2000 CAD is your budget you may want to do the build list in your currency because it's not just a little bit more it's almost $800 more in your currency. The Aorus Pro and Pro Wifi are also the same price in CAD.

The WD Drive OP listed is an SSD.

I took that into account, $2000 USD = ~$3000 CAD. I was able to get the Aorus Pro on Prime Day for $190, I can't remember exactly what it was but the WiFi didn't go down in price that much.
