Ryzen 2200G vs i3 9100f vs Ryzen 3200G

So I'm new to the PC building scene and planning on buikding my first PC for gaming. I'd like to run games at 60fps or higher 1080p on ultra or high.

I'm looking at getting an AMD RX580 8GB and pairing it with either a Ryzen 2200G or Intel i3 9100f. I understand that the Ryzen has integrated graphics which I won't need.

My question is do I get a Ryzen 2200G with base clock of 3.6GHz and boost of 3.7GHz. Intel i3 9100f with base of 3.6GHz and boost of 4.2GHz or do I wait for the Ryzen 3200G to come out with base of 3.6GHz and boost of 4GHz? In terms of longevity when buying a motherboard now at this inbetween stage of the 2200G and 3200G will the AMD AM4 socket be better or the Intel 1151? I've heard something about an X570 motherboard and im not sure if I'll need that... Very confused on what to choose... Thanks for the help

wait for the new ryzen processors come out, get a ryzen 5 2600 because it'll be cheaper.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Agreed, wait for the AMD chips to drop. Pricing get changed when new stuff comes in, and you could possibly afford a higher end CPU if you wait till Ryzen 3000 shows up. After it drops, compare benchmarks for what's in your budget, and then pick the better option. Hope that helped.

Even if Ryzen is the better choice, you don't need integrated graphics.

The R5 1600/2600 would be a better bet in either case.

The i5 9400f is a great price/performance option for gaming only rigs that I'd recommend over the 9100f. It's really not that much more.

Intel did announce price cuts across the board around the Zen 2 release in a week. So a 9400f may become a very enticing budget option.

If you have a plan to replace the CPU, take 2200G and if it's not i3 9100F + GTX 1660 it's a good choice for FPS
