A new GPU for a Ryzen 5 system (R9 380X died)

It seems my 3.5 years old R9 380X died. I have to do some additional tests on it, but it most likely did.

 

What would be the best upgrade option as a replacement?

 

RX 570 would not be a really noticable upgrade. Skipped.

RX 580 or 590 aren't great options when compared to a 1660.

RX Vega 56 costs between GTX 1660Ti and the Rtx 2060, but it's weaker and draws far more power. The VRAM buffer though...

RTX 2070 isn't worthwhile compared to the 2060, way pricier but not way stronger.

Radeon VII and RTX 2080 are out of my budget league.

 

No used cards please. 

 

I was planning on upgrading the GPU in a few months (next Radeon), but the GPU had other plans.

 

Currently running 1080p but have plans on getting a 1440p 144Hz screen in the next 6 months to a year. Running Ryzen 5 1600X but planning on upgrading to Ryzen 3000 in the next year.

A Vega 64 would be a good replacement. If they're overpriced or out of stock then I would recommend an RTX 2060 or a GTX 1660 Ti.

Vega 56 pulse from mindfactory is only 275 euros right now and I'd say it's easily the best card for the price. Just flash a v64 bios for the extra memory voltage, undervolt and overclock the core, and you'll have 2060 performance at a much lesser price.

my personal opinion is either vega 56 or rtx 2060. OC vega 56 is basically 64 but they're hot cards, 2060 is just all around good card but if you got used 1080 ti/1080/1070 ti this wouldn't even be a debate.

also you plan to ryzen 3000 upgrade right? Which chipset do you have? I think some of the 1st gen ryzen board might not get a bios update for zen 2 keep that in mind.

I dont think its right time to upgrade monitor, too costly for gpu upgrade

gtx1660 for well over 1080p 60hz 

RTX2060 for "just(not) enough"1440p 60hz/ 1080p 144hz

anything beyond are better but way overpriced

RTX 2060 or Vega 56/64, pick your poison imo.

 

GTX 1660 and 1660 Ti are good values too, but at this price range you'll always get a good amount "more" GPU for more money. RTX 2070 kind of breaks that chain of value, though.

Get a vega 56 pulse or a vega 64 nitro, they ar every good price atm. They are not hot cards with the coolers they have and if you dont play 24/7 you dont notice the power they use.

1660Ti 2250 Kn ($340 USD)

Vega56 2600 Kn ($390)

RTX 2060 2700 Kn ($405)

Vega64 3400 Kn ($512)

RTX 2070 4000 Kn ($600)

i got myself a saphire vega 56 ( mindfactory 275 euro)

undervolted it and it runs perfect (if the other components are correct). i dont her anything from it and its rly cool. also the options the card offer in the settings are rly neat

With a Define R5 I don't have to worry about the card length. It fits.
