[Question] How to enable max memory speeds on Ryzen?

Go to solution Solved by User17745,

UPDATE:

I update the BIOS from F8 to F31, enabled and reconfigured the XAMP profiles and now it's finally working at 3000MHz

Thanks to all for taking your time out.

Hi everyone,

This is my very first post on the forums and it's a very noob question that I want to ask.

I have a Ryzne 5 1600 with Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3. The memory that I have in my system is rated for 3000Mhz (Adata) but it's running at 2666Mhz.

How can I make it so that it runs at the maximum frequency?

You can enable XAMP (I think that is how Gigabyte calls it) and set it to 2933Mhz, or you can manually overclock it, for which I would recommend this tool:

I did set it to 29 multiplayer effectively clocking it at 2933Mhz (according to the BIOS anyways) but task manager still shows 2666Mhz. Any idea?

Task manager isn't always super accurate with these numbers, try checking another program such as CPU-Z to see how fast the memory is running.

In CPU-Z, go to the 'Memory' tab and check 'DRAM frequency' and double what you see there, we're talking about DDR of course; double data rate. So that should display ~1466Mhz or ~1333Mhz for 2933Mhz or 2666Mhz respectively.

It says 1333Mhz, screenshot attached.

Maybe I'm missing something?

In that case the memory is not running at 2933Mhz. Go to the BIOS and double check if it actually says the memory is running at 2933Mhz.

Did you do a manual overclock of the memory or did you turn on a memory tuning feature (like XAMP)?

I used XAMP in BIOS, but not sure if did it correctly.

Your motherboard/memory could have several XAMP profiles.

You can also post some pictures of the BIOS, we could probably help you faster.

Sorry for a late reply, I don't get to use my desktop much.

I've attached the pictures of my BIOS.
