Is Ryzen 3000 for You? One-stop FAQ

There's actually little reason to buy intel anymore when building new, 8core zen 2 for games, wait for 16core for workstations. How the tables have turned.

Need help with my build. The hype train surely dies when the keynotes was delivered.

Im building a pc for mainly gaming and 3D model design Autocad and Solidworks.

So do i have to wait for the release on July or do I buy a 2000 series gen?

The third gen ryzen 3000 motherboard sure look good but i think it will be expensive.

Been checking on Intel side and saw i5 9600k got me hooked.

HEELLLP I'm really confused on which cpu to buy so that i can get the best bang for my buck

That's not how RAM works.  There is no searching for a piece of data.  It's mapped directly in the CPU memory controller to a specific location.

What about data not in the TLB? ;)

Thanks let me know if I said something useful. Cheers!

16 Core CPU will push 300W after overclock.  Even entry/mid X570 boards may struggle to hit it. (Confirmed via Gamer Nexus)

Not confirmed. Buildzoid said he has no information on how much power Zen 2 chips will consume, but he was pretty confident single 8 pin connector will be sufficient to provide all the power needed (that's still around 300w). That video was uploaded on GN channel, so it wouldn't make sense for them to provide contradicting information (I am pretty sure both Steve and BZ share info they have).

Regarding the upgrade path:

Zen, Zen+, i3s, Pentiums, 7th gen and older Cores users would benefit from any currently announced Zen 2 chips. There should be quite a few older AM4 motherboards once X570 hits the market, so that's a way to get into new platform on low-ish budget.

8th/9th gen i7/i9 users can sit still unless Zen 2 is confirmed to overcock well and people want the best gaming chip no matter the cost.

Ex-EX build: Liquidfy C+... R.I.P.

I'm more worried about the heating issues, I pray AMD isn't going back the heater generation again like the FX generation.

It's 7nm. This thing is so efficient it's insane. It'll be night and day compared to Intel's 14nm+++++++++++. Intel is the only one approaching the FX CPU's.

Steve Burke mentions it in his MSI video when talking about the motherboard versions.

I know it's efficient but because of the  pcie gen 4 the chipset is going to draw a lot of power, and because of that it's going to need a mini fan to keep it cool.

My brother used to have 2 FX pcs his room it felt like a sauna even with the conditioner + dual coolers.

Now brother plans to switch both his work pc (Intel X series) and his gaming (Ryzen r7 2700) to a 12 core and a 8 core Ryzen 3000.

Will his room become a space heater again?
