Is it a good idea to buy a gaming laptop with intel processor with all the ongoing issues?

I was planning to buy Asus ROG Scar II,  Any alternates anyone can suggest ?

Apparently, there is going to be a big performance hit upto 5x the performence hit when AMD was vulnerable to spectre and meltdown

Reports are saying there will be performance hit of -40% which is bad,

Make sure it's Coffee Lake 8th gen and older and you'll be fine, Coffee Lake already has most hardware level fixes required and you do not need to disable HT, but... Kaby Lake and older users will indeed suffer at the end of this ride.

AMD laptops are a sideshow, Intel dominates the sector.

I dont have any alternatives as of now.
I nowhere it says Coffee Lake 8th gen are safe.

Then you can just build a pc with good ol Ryzen.
