Any super towers with lots of HDD bays? Now that Corsair 900D is dead...

I was incredibly disappointed to find out that the Corsair 900D has been discontinued in favor of the 1000D. I was wanting to upgrade my case to the 900D because I prefer lots of room rather than a smaller footprint.

 

The problem with the 1000D is that it only supports five 3.5" HDDs. For data hoarders like me, that simply won't do.

 

So, does anyone know of any super sized (i.e., larger than a full-sized case) cases with support for at least, say, eight 3.5" drives? Ideally with a side window.

It seems big enough and the HDD support is excellent. Not sure how I feel about not having a side window though, now that I'm confronted with that possibility. I've always felt like not having a side window makes a PC look like a generic prebuilt Dell or something. Oh well, I might have to settle.

7 for the Dark Base PRO + a couple others with the 5,25" Bays

Or Cooler Master Storm Trooper, if you can get one, comes with 9 5,25" Bays, 6 of them used by 3,5" "Adaptors/Cages with 4 3,5" Bays each.

 

Nanoxia (if available) Deep Silence 5B (not that good) and 6.

Other than the Nanoxia 6, those are all full towers I'm afraid

Why does it strictly matter that it has to be labeled a super tower? If a full tower meets all your requirements, isn that acceptable? It just seems silly to limit yourself to a class of tower based on a preconceived notion.

 

For the record, there's no set "spec" in terms of size that hard defines a Super tower verses a Full tower (or a full tower vs a Mid tower). There are mid towers that are larger than Full towers (havent done any comparisons with full versus super, but I imagine there's some)

Because I know that typical full towers are too small for my requirements, so I'm restricting my search to cases that are larger than that.

Then the 780T meets that, you just need to buy an extra cage for $10.

What about the COSMOS II from coolermaster?  It holds 13 3.5" drives. The 25th anniversary edition has TG side panels.

I can get a full size Card in my Nanoxia 5B.

There's more to it.

You are too fixated on how something is called. Ignore that and look at the specs of the case. And what you need.

Those "small" Cases can also fit some nice GPUs inside.

The only disadvantage is that you might not want to use a 180mm PSU or larger.

It needs to be physically more spacious than a typical full tower case. I think most full towers are something along the lines of 22" x 9" by 21". That's just over 4000 cubic inches. The 900D, by contrast, is 25.6" x 10" x 27" (close to 7000 cubic inches). The Cosmos II, at 26" x 13.5" x 27.7", is close to 10,000 cubic inches.

It has nothing to do with fitting graphics cards into the case; it has to do with there being a lot of room to move my hands around.

The CM Cosmos II looks promising, but the low price makes me worry about build quality. I'll look into it though! Thanks

Maybe mod a Praxis Wetbench? HDD support is the only area where it's kinda lacking. It shouldn't be hard to adapt some HDD cages. Plus, as an open air test bench, it's rather easy to work around. I've had mine for a day and I already prefer it to my 780T.

I'm sure this will get the job done (If you're willing to pay the insane price which you most likely aren't). It is quite hard to find now though, at the time of release I'm sure it was supposed to compete against the 900d (Or 800d?).

I know it's not a full tower, but the r6 can hold a ton of storage, you can get it with or without the window
