Why people critisize Huawei more than Oneplus on Spying
13 minutes ago, Devin92 said:It comes to my attention that the general public opinion that I know of critisize Huawei's spying for Chinese government a lot. But also being a Chinese tech compnay, Oneplus does not receive the same level of criticism. My question is why? Given how Chinese government works, if Huawei is spying for the Chinese government, there is NOWAY oneplus is not doing it. Any thoughts or more info about this topic is appreciated.
Pretty simple: OnePlus is just a phone company, and not a big one at that (even though it's connected to a much larger brand, BBK). Huawei, meanwhile, is both considerably larger and makes wireless infrastructure equipment. The concern is that Huawei could eavesdrop on communications if it had backdoors and other spyware sitting on its gear. There's no evidence it has been using that tech, but that's what people are worried about.
If OnePlus had spying software? Well, it'd maybe catch the conversations of a few million tech enthusiasts scattered across the world. Not exactly a viable surveillance technique.
