Does RAM ever just burn out?

I have 64Gb of DDR4 3600Mhz G-Skill Trident Z installed, and I've never got it to operate @3600Mhz, it's always defaulted to @2133 for some reason. Now, I'm only reading 48Gb. I shut everything down, waited a couple minutes, shut the power supply off, then re-seated all 4 sticks, however I'm still only getting 48Gb of RAM detected. So I'm just wondering if a stick could have just burned out, or if I can actually repair the issue. I'm running Windows 10 Pro, a Threadripper 1950X, & a nVidia Quadro P5000, & the Motherboard is an Asrock Taichi X399. My PC is one year old, has been ran hard to wall many times, as I'm a creator and do a very large volume of 4K video & music rendering, sometimes rendering 2 or 3 different programs, all rendering at the same time. Is it possible a stick of RAM just burned out? Thank you in advance for any replies.

Download MemTest and run it off a live USB. If there's something wrong with your RAM, that'll throw errors at you.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

It can fail but afaik it's generally very reliable, hence why many companies will give a lifetime warranty on it - the odds of them needing to pay out is low enough they can afford that - not true of most components.

rarely does that happen, it's more common to lose memory channels or working DIMM slots.

The person you're quoting also said RAM can fail, just that it isn't likely. So, there's nothing for you to correct.

A failing RAM is the same as a failing SSD.  It is rare as heck... You have more chance for one of your fans to go south then a SSD or RAM going south.  It's rare.  Now HDD will die but not a SSD since it have no moveable parts.  RAM failing is like the SSD dying, its not going to happen.

Here’s something rather interesting, I’m rendering in After Effects, and it’s reading 55Gb of RAM under load, however, in both CAM & BIOS, it’s only reading 48Gb. What do you think?

Hey Ripper why are your CPU at 71c when its only 12 percent load ?

In Ae, when rendering @4K, the CPU load fluctuates between about 10%-100%, and the temp, fluctuates between 68-73C.

hello,

I just wanted to give an update. I've received the Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3, and I will not make the mistake of giving some kind of glowing review based on 5-10 minutes of success, however, as soon as I got it installed, which turned out to be unexpectedly easy. The apparatus does in fact fit the TR4 socket without any modification, and installs  unexpectedly easy. My temps have only risen to 45C under light load, my clock speed has held steady @3700Mhz, and my voltage has remained over 1.25, and going as high as 1.5, without my temperatures going above 45C. So for the time being at least, the Noctua far exceeds in performance of what the Enermax LiqTech TR4, has evry been able to do. The Enermax has never idled at less than 68C, and far worse under load. I will report back, after I do some 4K rendering. Thank you for all of your replies, and for taking the time to read my update. I never would have guessed an air cooling apparatus could outdo any AIO, but at least in the case of the dreaded Enermax, so far, it has in spades.

Good to hear it's all worked out.  Yes, it's a common misconception that any water cooling must be amazing regardless of other factors but the truth is all but the best setups will be outperformed by a fantastic air cooler.  If you ever find that one isn't enough you could even step up to something like a NH-D15 :P
