What are single rank and dual rank RAMs? Please help

Single rank and Dual rank is just like single sided and double sided in memory chip mounting position. Dont need to bother with it.

Hey guys i just bought a new laptop with 2x4gb sodimm, ddr4, 2666mhz rams.

Im considering upgrading it to 16gb ram and starting browsing on amazon, and this thing comes up:

(I'm in Australia so that's AUD up there)

I'm going to upgrade it to 16gb dual channel, should i get 2x8gb single rank or 2x8gb dual rank? what's the difference between single rank and dual rank rams?

Check the Notebook if theres room on both sides of the PCB then you can get dual rank, if theres no room you can only get a single rank in there.
It would depend on the notebook altho theres not many that have no room for both.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
