Can't tell if I have RAM in dual channel or not? Help!

Go to solution Solved by Constantin,

It must be those 2.

Hi. I built my PC in late December and already knew about the practice of putting RAM in alternating slots for Dual Channel. But my Mobo has all-black slots and the manual seems to put slots 2 and 4 next to each other, closest to the CPU. I wondered about this for a while but just decided to put them in as it seemed to tell me in the manual, though manuals always confuse me.

If someone could either reassure me or correct me, I'd be at ease.

This is my mobo: Gigabyte - B450 AORUS M Micro ATX AM4  (pcpp link)

Oh shite!! I've been running single channel! And my CPU depends on RAM speeds quite heavily!

I'm going to try that configuration right now. Be back to reply in a bit. Thanks very much!

Slots 1 and 3 are part of channel A. Sots 2 and 4 are part of channel B. If you have them in 2 and 4 then you are only using channel B. So you would be running in single channel. If you want dual channel then you need to put them in either slots 1 and 2, or 3 and 4.

Your manual clearly shows you where to put them on page 10:

That table made no sense to me. Maybe because I was getting frustrated. Even just now it took me a while to figure out it says DDR4_1 to DDR4_4... duh! I've just put them in the right slots then. Thank goodness it's so damn easy.
