What exactly are you looking to recreate?

The main part of Navi's body is just three circles grsdients layered over each other and the wings are simply drawn and filled in with a different type.of gradient.

i would mainly use a modified gradient pattern then use the eraser at different sizes and intensity to try and create some natural dips in it's circumference

vector graphics can't do transparency, in fact, they can't do gradients since gradients are two colors changing their transparency which is interwoven into each other

dont need a gradient, just use the colour picker on the image to get your three colours, then use the brush tool

do dark blue first

make brush smaller

green

brush smaller

white

You use a friend that goes from foreground color to transparency. With foreground color you choose a darker shade of blue, then a lighter shade and then white and you just lay down the gradient one after another (making each circle smaller than the last)

looked it up. according to wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Illustrator#Versions_CS–CS6

if you want a perfect circle done quickly, use the circle selection tool, then the gradient tool panel

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/gradients.html

separately, if you want to do that with the brush tool, right click the canvas and reduce the hardness of the brush

my hardness is at zero

and i use the gradient map and got this

Can confirm Inkscape can also do gradients and transparency.

Gimp can do this too; but that's mainly a raster based image editor, so I don't think that's fair to compare to the others.

Inkscape's gradient tool is not super great though, compared to what I have used in other programs. This is what I could throw together real quick.

I definitely see some banding on the image as well.

You should choose a very soft brush, I don't have Photoshop but I'm pretty sure you can just select a different brush. But the disadvantage with this method is that you likely wont have all the circles lined up perfectly with each other.

well i got this now, to the left, its a bit closer using a softer brush but it still doesnt still look quite like it, i need to go softer but idk how

Even at nearly 10K*10K pixels, you can still see banding. Even at a normal viewing angle :P

There doesn't seem to be a way to export images at a color level that is not 8 bit. Gonna blame it on that. Supposedly 16 bit color export settings will be added later.

i probably can recreate it into vector graphic in photoshop. altho the best tool for task like this is illustrator or corel draw where they specialised for vector drawing/tracing. (which i know little about)

why everybody post the spec of their rig here? i dont! cuz its made of mashed potatoes!
