Looks like ISPs are going after KickAssTorrents

Several Irish ISPs have started blocking access to KickassTorrents, the country’s most-visited torrent site. Following legal action taken by Sony, Warner and Universal the High Court ordered several providers to block the site, and others including Eircom followed suit voluntarily. Whether the new measures will put a dent in local piracy rates has yet to be seen, as users still have plenty of alternatives.

While yes, for now, it's just Irish ISPs doing this, more and more ISPs will probably start targeting KAT in the wake of TPB's new torrenting system. So yup, looks like ISPs are starting to give up on mainly targeting TPB and going after KAT.

So long as they only employ DNS entry removal, "blocking" will have zero effect.

Lol, the fact they waste time and money in this futile effort to curb piracy is true evidence of just how disproportionate the percentage of dollar bills to brains inside their head really is. Too bad for them that if they smartened up and saw the truth of how much they throw away in this pointless and fruitless attempt to steal one of the few privileges the under privileged have, they would actually end up saving a whole lot more of that money they love so much.

welll, KAT has already changed their domain and such a few times over the last 3 years or so (been using kat for a while). I remember them going from kickasstorrents.com to kat.ph, and now it's kickass.to. they're probably went through more.

It isnt the ISPs going after them.

It is a court order. A result of a lawsuit from a copyright enforcing organisation.

Irish ISP's (Eircom/Vodafone) have blocked TPB for ages. It still doesn't matter though. Proxy server gets by it no bother. Just one more to the list so. No biggie :).

THey should just give up..... As long as proxies exist they just can't succeed, just type in Piratebay Proxies in google and you are on the piratebay in seconds. This will have zero effect.

My ISP (sky) blocked it months ago.

Its been blocked for months with BT, same for TPB.

They are all going to be ineffective when there are so many proxies.

I just tried to check it was still blocked and it took me a while to get to the real URL as all the links I found where already through proxy sites...

People say its ineffective but for a majority of people sadly it is very effective just the other day someone asked me where I attained something to which they replied "oh when that site was still around", I replied "it is?"

I don't... I used to, but it just became too much of a hassle and I'd rather support content that I enjoy.
