ASUS ROG PG279Q 27" Or ROG Strix XG32VQ or alienware AW3418DW for gaming?

Hey guys and gals. I can’t decide on a monitor.

 

budget is $850

 

I play overwatch a lot, fallout 4, Skyrim, bioshock, crysis, battlefield, COD, and gtav to name a few.

 

My rig:

i9 9900 k

32 GB ram

2080 rtx ti

Asus rog god like MB 

m.2 1 Tb ssd

m.2 2 Tb ssd

280 mm AIO

Budget considered, I would go 1440p 144Hz+ IPS. The Asus PG279Q ticks all those boxes.

Have to agree with JM21, buy minimum resolution of 1440p as 1080p monitors will not utilize that powerful gpu to its fullest potential

What. About it’s curved 34” counter part? Or is this one of the best monitors ?

And I don’t want to spend $2,000 on the daddy of Asus, that would cost 1/3 of what I spent on my pc to begin with.

I’ve been eyeballing these exact two for a month and can’t decide which to get what is the better monitor what is the difference of 120 vs 165

It's a preference of a larger monitor over higher refresh rate. I'd personally go for the ultrawide but that's only my preference.

I'm currently using a Dell P2715q monitor. My workstation is a Mac Pro so I'm really glad about it when dealing with work. However when it comes to gaming, it's limited to 60Hz, no HDR. It does the job but the experience isn't as good as it should be (my gaming rig uses a 2080ti).

 

I'm definitely not an expert but if I had to switch today I'd go with an aorus monitor (reviewed recently by linus). Looks badass and display quality seems fine as well !

See I’m struggling because I feel 120 hz vs 165 will make a substantial difference in playing my game

Unfortunately it’s not for NVIDA G-Sync

Agreed that is a dilemma, but you need to research the games you play and what the gaming performance is like. Most games I play on your system would cap out at 130FPS max anyways so going 165Hz would be pointless.

Get the Omen 27 inch, it's 1440p, 165hz and it's G-Sync too

I know I'm wanting a ultra wide for sure.

I know I'm wanting a 100+hz refresh rate as well.

 

I just can't figure out what the best bang for buck is :(...

The Asus XG32VQ isn't IPS so the panel isn't even in the same league.

It really depends on what you want out of the monitors, to be honest. Each have their own different trade offs, so it's really up to you. JM21 lays it out nicely.

New thread I see. Just replied in your other one. The Asus XG32VQ isn't IPS so the panel isn't even in the same league. And like I said before, get the AW3418DW if the games you play won't reach 165FPS, if most games you play reach 165FPS get the PG279Q. That is how you will make the best decision.
