Building with a am3+ motherboard in 2019?

Hi I'm new to building pc and was just wondering if building a computer with a am3+ motherboard in 2019 is ok. I'm thinking of using an fx cpu (either the 6300, 8350, or the 4300) with it and use about 16gb of ram and add a reliable cheap gpu like rx 570 . I don't intend to use it for gaming since I don't even play games at all. What I do intend to use it is just for browsing the internet, watching netflix/YouTube, use Microsoft office apps like word and paint, etc. and maybe the most I would do is Solidworks and Matlab. Now you would think that I should just buy a prebuilt computer but I find building a computer fascinating and would love to try it. Plus I've planned this already and the cheapest I could do with everything I've mentioned is about $300 in total.

i've got a case and storage already- $0

i've bought an am3+ motherboard- $5

i could get an fx-8350 for about -$50

cheap rx 570 - $120-$150

everything else (ram, power supply)- ?

if one day i want to upgrade i would only need to upgrade cpu and motherboard and ram right? i'm guessing power supply and storage and cases can be reused?

Stay well away from AMD FX, if you want an AMD system you've only got one option and that is to use Ryzen.

would other am3+ compatible amd cpu be better in this case? i know ryzen uses am4 but if i get into am4/ryzen my budget will have to rise significantly. i guess my question would be is a $250 fx pc be good for it's price? keep in mind i don't play games

I'm still running an 8350 from when I first built my computer years ago and performance is still completely fine. If all they are doing is netflix etc. then it will be more than enough and considering people have such a hateon for the fx series you can probably pick up the hardware nice and cheap

For $300 you can build a Athlon 200ge unit that can later on be upgraded to what ever ryzen you liked.

For your use case a 570 is a waste of powerful card.

The athlon can do all of that only with the integrated gpu.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Do CAD softwares not need powerful gpu?

If you already have it, well good for you, but if you plan on building from scratch, AM4 is the way to go.

I kinda have to agree.

The integrated graphics in these new AM4 processors are perfectly fine for even 4K playback and the Athlon 200ge is almost as fast as a six core FX series CPU and faster than the 4 core models, but uses way less power (35w tdp vs 95w tdp)

The memory my cost a bit more, plus the motherboard will cost more, but you can drop the RX 570 if you're not planning to game on it.

Yes they do, but for the budget, i think you should invest in the base platform first.

You can get the 570 later.
