Does Metro Exodus require a 8 core cpu

Carz728

I currently have an i5 8400 and a vega 56 with 16gb of ram.  I recently spent 79.99 on ac odyssey and couldnt even keep it at a consistent 50fps at low settings mostly due to my 6 core cpu.  I want to buy metro exodus but I dont want to waste money on something I cant play so do you think a 6 core cpu could rum this game at a consistent 60fps on high settings?

the CPU is pinned at 100% or something?

I easily get 60+ FPS on 8600k+GTX1080 using high settings.

Yeh and the graphics card is at like a 70% its a terribly optimized game.

u have a pretty balanced system...its just that the game still demands more...id upgrade the cpu...but since the gpu is also at 70% it might not make it better to the degree that u expected

Seems like it wants at least a high clocked 6 core 6 thread Coffee Lake, but I think a HT 6 core will do as well. I havent played it with my laptop though

Well 4 cores and 8 thread CPU is plenty for any game.  What is the usage of the CPU in Metro ?  Also perhaps your using vsync which would make sense it is only using 70 percent of GPU power.  Try turning vsync off and see if you get close to 100 percent GPU usage.  Also if the CPU isn't taxed to 100 percent, then you should be fine.  Only bummer is you can't overclock the 8400.  sighs
