Whats the difference between 2070 and 1080

Hi guys. 

What is the difference between 2070 and 1080 id they have the same performance. For a normal usage like gaming on 1080p 144hz monitor

Only difference is ray tracing. I'd buy whichever one is cheaper to be honest.

if you can find a good used 1080 on ebay that wasn't used for crypto, go for it.

 

Otherwise, go with a rtx 2070

Newer techie for 2070 and GDDR6 VRAM.  Newer tech like Ray Tracing and what not.

2070 has newer features, similar performance, higher resale value, etc.

If you can find one for the same price as a 1080 then it's a better choice.

At current prices, 2060 makes more sense even though it is slower.

They don't. 2070's around 10% faster. 2060 more or less equal to 1080. Honestly I'd skip both and go for 2060. 66% of the cost of the 2070 for 90% of the performance.

Yep. 2070 is the weird one.

 

2060, 2080, or 2080 ti imo

2070 is slightly better than a 1080, not worth it may as well go with a 2060 and overclock.

I was kinda in the same spot as you except I didn’t even consider the 2070. I was looking at 2060 Vega 56 and gtx1080. 

 

I ended up going with the rtx2060 and I’m glad I did. I’m using a 1080p 144hz monitor and it’s been great so far. I paid $360 for my strix 2060 after I sold the anthem code that came with it for $40. 

 

The 2060 is a much better deal then the 2070, the 2070 is in a weird spot and I’m really surprised they released the 2060 at $349 for how strong of a card it is. 

 

For 1080p the 2060 is the card to get

The difference would be price. As that’s the only driving factor for people. If there was something else you wanted, you’d get it. 

 

1080’s going for $300 bucks everywhere, I’d do that. Doesn’t matter if they were mined on or not. Just don’t buy crap msi. Other brands I avoid but should still work.

2070 is a new generation card with Ray tracing technology but the performance of 2070 and 1080 is almost same, If you are planning to buy anyone of then then get anyone which is cheaper
