With those specs you'll probably get the biggest improvement upgrading the GPU. You might also want 16 GB of RAM at some point.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you don't have a need to upgrade, don't upgrade anything. Your system should be good for 1080p gaming (if that's what you're doing).

There's no such thing as an i5 8700k. There's an i5 8600k or there's an i7 8700k.

Only upgrade when your performance is not what you want it to be. Upgrading for the sake of upgrading is a waste of money.

there is no i5 8700k

it's either the 8600k for a i5

or a 8700k for a i7

I would say the 1060 too if you need more performence, but if you don't, don't uprade at all

And what are you using the system for? If you were to upgrade something, what would you hope to achieve from doing so?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

So far using it for gaming and also running some software like UE4. FPS is great, CPU at a low temp constantly, so really it would be graphics that I would like to make better.

Are you going go play at 1080p, 1440p or 4K? What's your monitor? If it's a 1080p 60hz monitor just save more money and upgrade monitor+GPU

With that build a 1440p 144hz display with a RTX 2060 should be fine, really good combo

Yeah I just have a 1080p 60hz monitor at the moment.

I have a very similar PC.

My next upgrade will be Q4 2019 to move from 1080p 144hz gaming to 1440p 144hz gaming.

I will buy new monitor and new Video card so starting to save up now as total cost will be around $1000.

i5 8600 - RX580 - Fractal Nano S - 1080p 144Hz
