115i or 150i

Is their much of a difference in performance between a Corsair H115i and a H150i? I’m looking to get one of the two but don’t know whether it would be worth sacrificing the RGB fans on the h115i for an extra fan on the h150i or whether the h150i would just outdo the h115i.

Depends entirely on what CPU you're putting under it (well sort of, the difference isn't as big as you seem to think it might be).

Without AVX offsets, you need the biggest cooler you can get.

Would I be able to swap out the stock fans for some Corsair HD120 RGB fans or is it worth keeping the mag lev ones?

I ran my 8700K on an H115i Pro at 5.1 GHz no problem. My chip is a pretty decent overclocker though. Not delidded.

 

I think the mag lev fans are very nice and worth keeping. Near silent. If you want RGB though, might as well get it.

Assuming you're talking about the H115i RGB Platinum, (https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Liquid-Cooling/Dual-Radiator-Liquid-Coolers/Hydro-Series™-RGB-Platinum/p/CW-9060038-WW) yes, you can see under fan type it says ML, which stands for mag-lev.

I mean... it's asetek, so it's generally good

 

but keep in mind there are more, it really depends on what ecosystem you want to be in (for example nzxt's kraken series is asetek too)

You got that wrong. You don't "sacrifice" RGB fans for better cooling of H150i, you get the better cooling of H150i and don't get the cancer from RGB fans of H115i. Going for H150i is win-win-win

Ik but I didn’t know whether it would be worth having no RGB if there was no difference in performance.

So far most of my setup is RGB anyway so I was originally looking at the h115i because I knew the h150i didn’t have rgb.
