Which RTX card around $1000?

Kiiryu

I initially figured I'd get a 1080, but then saw the RTX prices and they don't seem that different.

Around $1000 CDN, which RTX card should I be looking at? (Which make and model specifically, and before the diminishing returns hit.)

The thought of researching each one makes me die inside so I'm hoping there's been a clear cut winner recently.

which ever u can afford

Yeah, but which model specifically? I know there can be drastic differences from one to the next these days.

Also given the price in CDN I'd say I'm not looking at a ti. More then I'm looking to spend I think.

Why?

If I was to upgrade to an NVIDIA card I would go with EVGA without even double-thinking about my decision. Best customer support and warranty (and good cooling performance).

If you want shinier cards then MSI or Asus, sure.

To be honest I am considering the Radeon VII now that I look at it.

I've also had very good experiences with Sapphire cards in the past. (Mine broke and they literally sent me one twice as powerful when they didn't have to.)

I'm also not too concerned about realtime ray tracing. My bigger concern would be temp so I'll have to look into that.

Buddy of mine has the strix 2080 and I myself armour 2070. we have swapped cards for a couple days. Obviously 2080 beats 2070 but both cards perform well, no issues and especially no overheating issues. (my 2070 under 100% load runs about max 67 peak but averages around 61c.

I have never owned any EVGA product so I couldn't recommend it as i've never used it. You wouldn't think twice, but then again, that is your opinion.

I recommend these two vendors as I'm familiar with them :)

Temps are fine, all you need to do is to turn the fan speed down on the reference Radeon VII card because they spin up a bit too fast at stock. True, it doesn't have Ray Tracing but it has some other goodies such as 16GB of 1TB/s HBM2 memory when compared to 8GBs of GDDR6 on the 2080 etc. A decent card that has similar value as the RTX 2080, at the moment I'd buy the Radeon VII personally as I prefer AMD drivers, less buggy to me and they're easier to use. Also - no GeForce Experience which is nice.

Seems really hard to find solid info. Everyone seems to say that it's very loud, but is that the initial cards, or would it be the same on models like the Sapphire?

Reviews are also kinda weird. They'll mention that it's about the same performance as a 2080 (winning some, losing some), but then say that it's overpriced because it's the same price? What? And then some reviews will mention that it may be better for workstation tasks, but then go on to say there's no reason to get it over a 2080.

Either way, I suppose I'll probably have to wait a couple days. Stock is low these days, so I suppose I'll have to do some more research in the meantime and see it it's worth getting one over an EVGA 2080.

If you are going to spend $1,000 go all in with the 2080 ti FE directly from Nvidia.  Don't bother with all the other brands and models that promise Overclock.  It's a total waste

That's 1000CAD, not USD.
