2 dead rx 580s since december

Giantrooster210

in December I decided to upgrade and grabbed the xfx rx 580 8 gb black edition. sweet price and an upgrade over my 1050. after a couple of days poof...dead mid game (destiny 2), pc wouldnt post nothing....dead. So i RMA and in the mean time before i received the replacement i upgraded the mobo to the rog strix b450-f and a ryzen 5 2600 (gpu was bottlenecking a bit with my old rig before it died) Got all that up and running zero problems with the trusty old 1050 ti, the replacement rx 580 shows up, installed it...ran like a champ for a week and a half and once again mid game (skyrim)  poof....DEAD same as before, no power no post no nothing (with the newer mobo/cpu). It doesnt take much digging to find other people with issues with this card but with all the decent reviews and generally good things for this card i have seen I figured that as with anything there is bound to be SOME issues out there and even me getting one that dies shortly is statistically bound to happen, send it back get a replacement ok fine what ever move on....but 2 IN A ROW? Is this a much more common theme with these cards or did i get the random crap end of the stick twice?

EDIT: i have my old 1050 ti back in its place now and it runs like a champ with zero issues just as it should

Thats some very strange luck, I would personally be inclined to believe it's the PSU killing your graphics cards.

I have an ROG STRIX RX580 and it has been holding up like a champ for the year i've owned it. I bought it used, previous owner mined on it.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta

I just bought a R9 Fury Nitro for $140 on ebay....benches like %10 less than a 1070, benches 1% faster than an RX 590 (however 230w TDB)...If you get an R9 Fury X (1070 equivalent) they are around $175 shipped.

Sucks team red is doing this to you!

Yes and get a good gaming monitor to boot.  Their not that expensive unless you go larger in screen size.  But @ 27" You can find a nice HDR UQHD 144hz for 400 or 500 bones.

Meh. Don't get a bad taste.

The 1070 is fine, but honestly for the price I agree with @Tristerin that the R9 290X is a very solid option. I've seen them as low as $90...

But really you've got an RX 580, you've already invested. RMA it again and chalk it up to bad luck. If it occurs again, it's likely something else in your hardware...

Between the RX580, R9 290X, 1070 you're talking about maybe a 5-10% performance difference maximum... Keep rolling with the card that's got warranty on it.
