Newish rig stops after a few seconds

So, Ive got an Asus P5QD turbo mobo, core 2 quad extreme(qx6700), 2Gb ram, 680W PSU, and a DVD drive along with a data drive in there, when I start it up, it stops after a few seconds, what could be the problem?

jesus christ... this is soooo unbalanced of a PSU XD 

 

however it seems that you are suffering from a power issue... like its not getting enough for the CPU to run... but it could also be another variety of issues. is everything seated and installed properly?

What PSU do you have? Make and model. On a 10 to 12-year-old system, I'd be inclined to say that's the first place to look.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

start by unplugging everything that is unnecessary, dvd drive, harddrive usb devices etc. But if you dont even get a display output (if you got a graphics card installed in that thing) it also could be ram too.

@Justasking This smells like a power issue. Could be as simple as a loose connection. First thing you can do is pitch the CD drive lol. jk, but follow what @Levent said with removing all but what is absolutely necassary to start. this wayt we can eliminate variables to what may be preventing the system from starting.

So I think I found the rather strange solution, and that is that I need to hold the pc at an angle, because probably something isn't connecting or stuff??
