Soo I was just wondering Ln2 is used to cool cpus for world records. Is it just used to dissepait all the heat when using a lot of voltage? Or will lower temps allow higher frequencie on same voltage ?

It's to keep the processor cool during extreme overclocking. However, it doesn't necessarily need liquid nitrogen as frequency only generates a linear increase in heat output, but it ensures heat is not what's causing the CPU from hitting some limit.

 

Lower temperatures will allow higher frequencies on the same voltage but up to a point.

Extreme low temperatures allow for higher clocks at the same voltage.

 

For example you could be running at -100c and a OC wont work, but at -120c it will. Its not that the chip is running 'hot' .. its simply down to how cold it needs to be to actualy work at the speed your attempting.

Infact some world records dont use Ln2 becouse its not cold enough, and instead use LHe , Liquid Helium, which boils at -270c ..vs Ln2 -196c. and for reference DICE in alcohol for extreme cooling is -78c
