LG G4 speed up tips?

Chronified

I broke the screen on my Pixel 2, then broke the AMOLED while trying to replace the glass. Damn those panels are thin compared to LCD. $110 CAD later and it's still going to be almost a month in the mail.

Anyways, any tips on speeding up an aged LG G4 while I wait for my replacement LCD?

The phone was a flagship 4 years ago, with a Snapdragon 808, 4GB of RAM (on my Canadian Model, most had 3GB), 32GB of storage and a 5.5" 1440x2560 screen (it still looks great) I have no idea why it's preforming so poorly today.

I've enabled dev options and disabled any animations, installed Nova Launcher, installed every update (Still only running 5.1 due to shitty H812 model support in Canada) and am using lite versions of Facebook, Messenger, Gmail and Youtube.

The phone still feels slow as molasis. WAY slower than I remember it being back in the day.

I remember Linus releasing a recent video on your phone getting slower, but even wiped fresh it feels slower than it did back in the day crammed full of crap.
And yes, I haven't enabled auto updates so my OS isn't being bogged down by new versions of system apps.

LegacyOS doesn't support the G4, it supports the G2, G3, G5 and G6 :( not sure where else to turn, I don't want to be using a Potato for the next month. It's to the point that I'm debating going to the dark side and using my GFs retired iPhone SE until replacement parts come in, battery life is crap since it survived the 2 year contract, but it's in mint condition and is still (kinda) fast.

Bonus video

RIP @ my Pixel 2

I ordered a DBrand skin so I don't need to pay the $60 for the back glass too.

Unlock bootloader, and install a custom ROM would be my best bet. I still use a G4 as my company phone and don't have any issues. I use CypherOS, but don't play games or anything.

I've heard of it, but I have an H812 and I can't find modded roms for that exact model. Also afraid of bricking my only working phone and being forced to use an iphone for the time being lol

@Chronified

If you follow the guide step by step you shouldn't have a single issue :D I've never bricked a single phone, lost data so just be sure to make external backups :D

With that being said, I guess I wasn't paying attention as I didn't notice it was the Canadian variant. Those had a bootloader work around at one point but has since been closed and offer's no support so I woulodn't advise that route. The next option could be rooting the device, which would allow you to use tons of tools that would improve performance. That would depend on what version of Android you are running though, or obtaining stock firmware files reverting the phone to pre-marshmallow.
