Guy selling gtx 1080 ti for 500$ CAD, but wants me to etransfer the money to avoid getting scammed himself.

Sashgnarg

Sounds a tad sketchy to me. What are you doing this over? Face to face? Over the internet?

Well, officially yes, with a contract....but that's waste of time for 500$, is there a way you can meet so you know everything would be legit ?

I would have him send you a Paypal invoice so you are protected by Paypal. It can take a month to get your money back if it falls through but at least you are protected. The seller would have to pay Paypal a percentage of the sale. Do not do a deal over Paypal Friends & Family

Nope, meeting up wouldnt be an option as he lives about 4 hours away. And 375$USD for a 1080ti seems like a pretty sick deal to me, atleast from what ive seen browsing.

Over the internet <----- def a scam!

this is a scam. I have a lot of experience with scammers in videogames trying to get my items. They always do the "I don't want to get scammed" bullshit. I get mad thinking about scammers because they still try to add me all the time.

Yea, that's what Im thinking aswell. I wish that there was some third party company that could hold onto the item until I confirmed it was legit and paid.

Funny, thats actually a scamming method in csgo. The scammer asks you if you have a friend to do the 3rd party trade, and when you pick a friend they have another accomplice or bot that copies your friend's steam profile so they can pose as them and then proceed to steal your items

I would demand that the only way you are willing to pay is over a Paypal invoice and that you would be willing to help cover the fees. If refuses this arrangement it is without a doubt a scam

Do you have any family or friends in the area you can ask to do the deal in person?

It sounds like you're out of luck on this one unless you can figure something out.
