Yes. Make sure the newly exposed ends don't touch anything. Aka put some tape on them.

Yes, but make sure to secure exposed contacts. Put some tape or a bit of hot glue to seal them.

Yes. Slap some electrical tape over the cut end of the wire just to be certain nothing comes in contact with bare wire.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
