how bad is it to "dual" RAM in slots 1,2?

jk441

So just made a new build and booted up my system. It seems like it just doesnt wanna play ball with me and allow my RAMs to be installed in slots 2,4; 1,3; or 3,4 and only be okay when installed in 1,2. Im guessing it's a potential mobo issue that i have rn but what could be the long term implications if I continue to use my rig with this config?

System is ryzen 1700x

Asus Prime b450m-a

Kingston hyper fury X 2x8GB sticks

Asus strix gtx 980

Absolutely nothing bad will happen, but you'll simply not run the memory in dual channel mode, so you will experience a slight decrease in performance in applications that use the RAM memory a lot.
