whhat do i have to do to put a Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz in an MSI - X370 GAMING PRO Motherboard.

it most likely will only work if you have a first gen ryzen to update the bios on the board first before putting in the new 2600 chip.

Because i bought my X370 yesterday, and i was still deciding on what cpu i should get. but i added the ryzen 5 and got that error message... So what cpu should i get???

any first gen ryzen... ryzen 3 1XXX (x), ryzen 5 1XXX (x), and ryzen 7 1XXX (x)

 

don't quote me on any of this, as i am an Intel person. never owned any ryzen in my life. this is just what i know from listening to others and watching videos on ryzen.

It will work. The warning is relatively old, because Ryzen 2000 series CPU's weren't immediately supported by the 300 series chipset motherboards (A320, B350, X370) so they needed a BIOS update to support them. However it's been 10 months since ryzen 2000 series launched, so most 300 series boards should already have the Bios applied to them

 

If you're still worried about it, the B450 series chipset is guaranteed to work with the Ryzen 2000 series CPU's

Absolutely.

 

Even if you get a Ryzen 2000 series CPU and a 300 series chipset motherboard, AMD will send you a "boot kit" (basically a supported cheap CPU) which will allow you to turn the system on and be able to update the motherboard BIOS (should it not be updated for some reason)

If you can get into bios without any CPU installed. MSI motherboards have a USB bios update utility that updates through a USB stick. If you do not see a bios screen with options, the AMD kit is the way to go. I have an MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon.
