Asus pg348q backlight bleed

I have read some topics to know that backlight bleed is normal to a degree with ips panels and the pg348q is no exception but does my new monitor exceed that exception? I have 2 days left to exchange it

Afaik there is no real objective threshold like with dead pixels. So I can't say it exceeds X-amount because there is no baseline.

It looks like the panel was improperly mounted in the casing, as it's pressing at the corners. (or that could be where the edgelighting is placed). But whether the agree on an RMA I don't know.

 

But it's probably some AUOptronics turd they put in there, so a new one will probably have the same.

 

EDIT: it's an LG. But the contrast is pretty bad (900:1) so that's why it will have issues blocking out the backlight.

Do you notice it while using it? If so exchange it. If not it doesn't matter

Asus has a terrible reputation for backlight bleed and the RMA system is a collection of horror stories. Try returning to the shop where you bought. That is quite bad and I know how annoying it can be

The camers does make it appear a little bit worse than it is but its defininatly noticable when playing content in 16:9. 

 

 Ill probally end up going to best buy to get a replacement later on today hopefully the new one will be better. Just a pain to take it off the stand and pack it all up

Tbh I think they fuck up at the bezels. The panels don't look that bad in the middle but they are pinched in the corners.

I have a MG278Q with worse bleed than you! A fucking TN panel! The fit is terrible at the edges, my friend’s PG278Q also has bad bleed.

That even more so proves that it's the bezel. Plastic will expand in the summer, granting the screen more space.

I've seen some threads of people refitting them and fixing the issue. But fuck if I was going to try that on a 700 euro screen and void my warranty on a 3-day old panel xD
