Meh, the 1080 ti is fantastic, if you want a 2080 ti you’ll need to wait another 10 months minimum

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Volta is a rumor so far, go for a 1080 Ti and even better if you can find a good deal for Black Friday

The TI version comes out a while after the 80 version and Nvidia said there isnt enough competition to release volta so they will milk it for a while longer so youd end up waiting quite a while.

Its honestly not going to be that far away if we follow normal Nvidia release patterns set over the last several generations. Assuming Volta is their next generation lineup, we should see it early 2018. probably late Q1/early Q2.

I'm in a pretty similar boat. The R9 390 is holding strong so you need something that will make a large impact.

No, 2080 ti is right. For the Volta series Nvidia is going to go to 2000, they are skipping 1100-1900

The ti model comes out a good 6 months after the first gpu to drop, meaning if Volta drops in 2018 q1 we’ll get a 2080 ti 2018 q3

oh right fair enough. my apologies there I was a derp and forgot we were talking about the ti version rather than just Volta in general. That being said, for the previous two generations the ti's have been 9-10 months after the 80 series flagships (980 September 18th, 2014; 980ti June 2nd, 2015... 1080 May 27th, 2016; 1080ti March 10th, 2017). I could see them bumping it up a bit maybe for a black friday/Christmas release to milk those sales if they have the quantity manufactured by then, but my guess is at least 2019 for the 2080ti specifically.

Makes sense considering they call pascal the 10-series rather than the 1000 series (logical successor to Maxwell, the 900 series). And I think they did that because naming might become a bit tedious. Hard to really market the sale of the GeForce GTX 3780ti. Some numbers just sound better than others haha.

GTX 1080 Ti is pretty good.

I doubt we will see the kind of performance leap we saw with Maxwell and Pascal again.

As always the best way to purchase is to just buy the best option you want and can afford right now. I'd say Black Friday is a great opportunity.
