War of 1812 question

I could have sworn that i heard somewhere that when the americans tried to invade canada that they wanted to go through New York to Montreal they decided not to because they were afraid of the people who lived there were aposed to the war and would harm the troops. so they decided to go attack upper canada instead which also had more british troops. is this true?

I dont know if they avoided going through new york because citizens threatened to take action against the troops, but they did try to go for upper canada

Not sure where you heard this but the war of 1812 took place in the south and eastern parts of the US.

Canada was not directly involved.

Correction Canadians were not directly involved. This was an attempt by England to take back the US. Battles were fought but it was mostly between England and the US. The US didnt invade Canada to take it.

Washington was burned many times. Even the White House.
